Large scale Contribute implementation produces flawless results

Spire2 utilizes Contribute in redesign of Northern Seminary website.

A while back, I wrote about using Contribute software for content management (editing web pages without using html code).

Along with helping Northern Seminary define and develop an online strategy, Spire2 programmed their site to utilize Contribute so they can manage updates conveniently.

At $149 per license, Contribute is an amazingly cost-effective and flexible way to manage web content. Northern's marketing department is happy. Contribute allows them to spread the responsibility of updating content to a broader group, while maintaining consistency of site structure, integrity of design, and security of content.

Check out Northern's new site. If you would like to learn more about how Contribute can save you money on web maintenance and improve your content strategy, please contact Spire2.

Start email marketing without the fear of spam

Three ways to send email and not be accused of spamming

Survey participants indicated hesitation in starting an email marketing program because of fear they might spam people. Here’s Spire2's 100% full-proof method to ensure people won't be offended by your email marketing. Use it to grab your audience's attention and loyalty before your competition does.

Three no fail ways to avoid spamming

1.

Explicit Permission. Add no one to your email list unless they sign up themselves online or in writing, or give verbal permission. NO ONE else should be added, no matter how tempting.

You should follow up verbal permission with an email confirmation. I usually send my last campaign along with a note of thanks as confirmation.

2. Automated Opt-out. It's imperative to give each recipient the option to easily and anonymously get off the mailing list. If people feel like they are hostages, it will leave a negative impression.
3. Periodic Reminders. Occasionally reminding your list of the first two points -- they signed up and they can opt-out.

Is it easier to just add all your customers or members to your list? Yep, but don't be tempted. You might not break the letter of the law (it is legally not spamming if the receiver is a customer), but the law will not protect your reputation.

If you make sure that you follow Spire2's three steps you run zero risk. In fact marketers are often amazed at the positive feedback and dialogue email marketing generates.

Anxious for spring?

New life is appearing in the landscaped beds in our front yard (see above). Only weeks after installation last fall, my wife and I were digging and planting bulbs. This wouldn't have happed if I had given into my desire to call it quits (which happens every October). It is no fun digging when the ground is cold, damp, dead, and the reward -- a bunch of filled up holes.

Bulbs provide a good lesson for marketers. Marketing, like bulb planting, requires patience. You only see the results long after the work. You also need to do a lot of planting to get the desired effect (bulbs only look good in mass). A single marketing effort is not bound to make an impact. Multiple ongoing efforts produce results over time.

But it's worth it. I am thankful for my wife's prodding as we experience the delight of spring flowers.

I hope your marketing efforts are springing up.

Best,

Jeffery James

Branding the Bible
Spire2 was engaged by Livingstone Corporation to design a Bible for Zondervan that would break away from the sticky sweet look of women's study Bibles. Spire2 infused the book with a sense of style that appeals to the female market Zondervan was targeting.
